As we enter the 8th month of the pandemic, many of us are settling into new normals. We are now more proficient in Zoom meetings. We are all figuring out how to incorporate social distancing into our lives. While we can’t travel, we can stay in touch with our loved ones elsewhere in the world with FaceTime. For many industries, it has not been so simple. Nowhere is this more true than in the world of live Fine Arts Performance. We are pleased to be sharing about a wonderful new Oregon Ballet Theatre Series.
With news of canceled symphony, opera, dance, and theatre seasons all over the world, it seems we are destined to be culturally starved of these experiences for some time. Luckily, the Oregon Ballet Theatre has resolved to “Reimagine” (the title of the Oregon Ballet Theatre Series 2020/2021) their relationship with audiences to create a new arena for performance. OBT has pivoted and adapted to our new reality by delivering ways to stay in touch with their exceptional dancers. They have created virtual experiences as well as innovative in-person venues so dancers can engage with our city, all through safe and socially distant pop-up performances.
The next installment of such performances titled Wish List takes place October 29-November 15 at the Oregon Ballet Theatre Warehouse. Although this is not one of Portland’s beloved theaters, the warehouse is sure to be an intimate and raw experience. Attendees will get a rare behind-the-scenes sneak peek into the set production side of OBT.
A $200 All-Access-Pass allows in-person access to performances throughout the season, while the $100 All-Digital-Pass allows subscribers the ability to enjoy all performances from the comfort of their own home. The purchase of one or both of these passes is a way to reclaim a sense of normalcy lost due to the pandemic. It will also go a long way in supporting the company as it works to remain solvent in this new era.
Make sure to head over to OBT’s website for Wish List scheduling, and purchase information. Here you can also read more about the inspiring work the Oregon Ballet Theatre is doing during this time.
On another note…..did you know that our own Emily Franc was an accomplished professional dancer for many years?
